Pennywell Youth Project: Tackling Unemployment

Pennywell Youth Project were awarded £49,966 by People’s Health Trust using money raised by Health Lottery North East and Cumbria.

This two-year scheme from Pennywell Youth Project aims to convert an underutilised community room into a community café for those who are unemployed in Pennywell in Sunderland. There will be a job club offering a different theme each week such as how to job search, how to create a CV and interview techniques. The intention of the project is to create a space where those who are experiencing unemployment can discuss issues, share concerns and offer support to each other. There will be the opportunity for residents to volunteer in the café to gain skills, experience and qualifications which may move them closer to the job market.
