Supporting the migrant women of Birmingham

The Women’s Help Centre in Handsworth were awarded £32,536 by People’s Health Trust using money raised by Health Lottery West Midlands.

This two year project will run a series of group sessions covering cooking, sewing, exercise/dance, growing organic fruit and vegetables at the allotment, computer and digital skills. It is targeting local migrant women of all ages needing bilingual support who would otherwise only interact within their own community. They will be residents within walking distance of the group’s centre which is based in Handsworth in Birmingham. The aim is to bring women together locally to do fun, social activities which will increase their wellbeing and build stronger community connections.
