TV presenter Charlotte Day visits charity Carers4Carers!
Health Lottery London East have raised over £8 million to support vital health-related causes in the region. One of those is Carers4Carers, a social enterprise in Brixton which offers a range of services and support to unpaid carers. A friendly social space, with activities like circuit classes, yoga, table tennis, reflexology and lunch clubs, it is a shining example of the projects supported through The Health Lottery.
Carers4Carers received almost £50,000 in funding from People’s Health Trust, raised by Health Lottery London East.
We visited the space in July 2019 with TV presenter and influencer Charlotte Day, who loved taking part in the group’s yoga classes for the morning! “I was truly touched talking to the carers,” she said. “Actually hearing people say they couldn’t live without the charity, and seeing how happy they were…it’s given them a new lease of life.”
A carer is defined by Carers4Carers as “anyone who provides unpaid care for a family member or friend who, due to illness, disability, mental health issues or addiction, requires support to live a more fulfilled life.” We believe at The Health Lottery that supporting the wellbeing of carers is vitally important.
