Health Lottery North East & Cumbria

Health Lottery North East & Cumbria was formed from former CICs HealthAble, HealthImprove and HealthRespect. It covers Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and the aforementioned county of Cumbria. The Health Lottery has raised over £7.5 million in this region, with the first Health Lottery North East & Cumbria draw set to take place on 1 March 2019.

North East & Cumbria Health CIC is licensed and regulated in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission under account number 26292.

The money raised in this region has helped families with disabled children by creating tailored community spaces and accessible activities such as adapted cycling. The Health Lottery has also generated funding to back numerous home-grown endeavours, including lunchtime clubs, volunteer support groups, and the creation of community hub Pattinson House in Gateshead – developed from two buildings that had been empty for eight years. Other causes include:

  • £42,803 to build the confidence of LGBT people in Hartlepool through Hart Gables
  • £42,340 for arts and crafts activities for women in Middlesbrough through Tees Valley Arts
  • £49,359 to provide social activities for deaf and hearing-impaired people in Barrow, Cumbria, through Barrow Deaf Club
