£250,000 winner Tim surprises wife with a dream home!
Former police officer Tim Carson scooped £250,000 in our Mega Raffle on August 1st!
But Chelmsford resident Tim, 49, then chose to keep his win a secret from wife Alison for two days. He sweetly wanted to surprise Alison on her day off, and announce he was going to buy their dream home with his winnings – as a present for standing by him when he retired through ill-health.
Just nine months after marrying the love of his life in 2013, Tim had to step down as a London police officer. Alison continued to work to support them both. Tim told us: “We always said that we would buy a house if we won money with the lottery. So this is my present to Alison as she has kept us both going. I am eternally grateful for her support since I retired.”
The Health Lottery team visited Tim’s house to surprise Alison, and celebrate their wonderful news with them! When Tim revealed what he was going to spend the money on, Alison broke into tears and said: “I can’t believe Tim managed to keep this a secret for two days. It’s truly the best news ever. I’m so excited!”
Delighted, an emotional Tim said: “I’ve been walking our dog Harley a lot these past two days, to refrain from speaking to anyone and spoiling the surprise. Harley was the only one who knew about the money! A quarter of a million pounds? I don’t even know what to say. This money will change our lives forever and I am so grateful to The Health Lottery.”
Martin Ellice, Joint Managing Director at The Health Lottery, said: “We’re delighted to help this lovely couple purchase their dream home – what a journey they’ve been on together. I know that the whole team here at The Health Lottery was moved by Tim’s gesture to Alison. We wish them every happiness.”
Tim’s win marks £3,000,000 in prizes awarded to Mega Raffle winners so far. Four more players will win that guaranteed £250,000 prize before the end of 2019! The next Health Lottery Mega Raffle will take place on September 1.
