Tapping House provides personalised hospice care, helping people live as well as they can, right until the end of their lives.

Care centred on the individual

Nikola Ellis, CEO of Tapping House, said:

“We work with everyone as an individual, supporting them on each step of their journey. This year the hospice will support over 1,500 patients and their families. This equates to around 4,500 people. We work under the principle we were founded – you matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”

The charity – formerly known as Norfolk Hospice – has been working with families since 1984. This year marks 40 years of providing rest-of-life care, both at the hospice and in the wider community.

Tapping House is an independent charity with a fundraising target of more than £4.5 million a year to meet growing demand for its services.

£15K from Health Lottery players for expert, compassionate care

Funding from The Health Lottery Foundation will help support:

  • 24-hour nursing in a nine-bed inpatient unit
  • Hospice at home services offering pain management and support in familiar surroundings
  • The Tulip Centre, delivering rehabilitative palliative care
  • Bereavement care for families, before and after a loss

The Health Lottery Foundation offered a grant to support this work because of the wide reach and depth of the hospice’s services, which support not only patients but their loved ones.

Nikola added:

“We have a huge fundraising target and we’re grateful for every donation, whatever size. Together, we can make sure that no one in our community faces their final moments without the care, compassion, and dignity they deserve.”
