Donate to charity at Christmas

It’s no secret that while most of us look forward to the festive season, it can be a tough time for others. With the cost of living continuing to rise and many families struggling to make Christmas special, donating what you can to the charities that can help will make a big difference.

Charity Christmas gifts

The Christmas season is the perfect time to think about supporting those in need, especially after the bumpy few years we've all had. If anything, the last few years have shown us the importance of taking care of our community, neighbours, and the world around us by doing our part and helping where we can.

Many charities offer the ability to buy gifts or donate on behalf of others at this time of year. This can be a great option for those hard-to-buy-for friends and family members. Not only does it fill you and the gift recipient with the spirit of Christmas, but it can make a huge difference to the charity in question too.

If you’ve already finished your Christmas shopping and bought everyone the perfect gift, firstly, well done! But don’t worry, gifting isn’t the only way you can support charities across the country this festive season.

Donate to charity for Christmas

There are lots of great ways you can help national and local charities at this time of year. Many charities find themselves overwhelmed with extra people needing help, so volunteering your time can be a great way to help out. If, however, time is not something you can spare during the holidays then there are a couple of ways you can donate money, allowing a charity to pay for more resources.

Most charities accept direct monetary donations via their websites. But if you’d like to have a bit of fun and be in with the chance of winning some extra cash for you and your loved ones, then why not play one of our games?

How The Health Lottery is supporting charities year round

When you play any of The Health Lottery games, you’re helping us to fund game-changing grants for vital health charities across Great Britain. So far, the generosity of people like you has raised over £130M, funding more than 3,500 projects and helping at least 659,000 people live better, healthier lives.

Charities across Scotland, England, and Wales are doing incredible work to tackle loneliness, build communities, support disabilities, and help people of all ages get active and creative. You can find out more about the charities you’re helping to support every time you play one of our games here.

Help at Christmas

Helping others and knowing that your contribution has made a difference to someone's life is an incredibly rewarding feeling. But sometimes it's us that need that little bit of extra help and at this time of year that’s even more common. If you’re having a tough time with money or perhaps your mental health has taken a bit of a hit, there is lots of help and advice available for free. Below is a list of organisations that can help with a range of different issues that many of us feel at this time of year.
